Here is one more photo from my recent trip on the Long Island Ferry, crossing from New London, CT, to Orient Point, Long Island. The trip takes about 90 minutes, so I had time to take lots of pictures. In this shot, Long Island is visible in the distance. Tonight I cropped the original photo to emphasize the geometry of the boat and the horizon line. I thought about cropping out the rope, but decided to leave it in because I liked the juxtaposition of patterns in the rope, the railings, and the waves.
