I am painting a wooden codfish that will be part of the codfish auction for Marblehead Festival of Arts. (There was no auction last year due to Covid.) This year I am painting a coral codfish, a species that is bright orange with blue dots. Seeing photos of a coral codfish made me think of the color field painting of the sixties, hence the name. Although this is a real species of fish, I am not going for realism. Yesterday I sketched out the position of the blue markings. Today I refined the spacing with a blue sharpie, and then started painting the markings with light blue acrylic. I also added the lines on fins and tail. To be continued. . .
