This image began with a snapshot from a family trip to Colorado (photo posted here on January 14). That snapshot is going to be the basis for two paintings. First, I am going to use an image cropped from the background as the basis for a painting, with green as the main color. (See photo reference posted yesterday, Jan. 15.) I am also going to do a painting based on the whole image, with purple as the main color. So I opened the original photo in Painter and modified it, using Painter's color overlay, color adjustment, and posterizing tools to get a purple color scheme. The image posted here today will be my reference for that painting.
