This is one of the watercolors I painted shortly after my first trip to Portugal. Six of these paintings have been hanging on my kitchen-family room wall for years. But yesterday I had to take then down, just temporarily, while our kitchen is being renovated. I miss seeing them because they remind me of happy trips to Portugal, so I decided to post them here this week. This painting began with a photo that I took during a trip to Bom Jesus in Braga. We climbed the many, many flights of stairs to the visited a lovely park at the top. I took a picture of the souvenir shop, and that was the inspiration for this painting.
