Today I worked on this painting again. My focus was the mountains in the distance. My reference (posted here March 23) is a photograph that I took in two summers ago during a trip to Colorado. I started by turning both the painting and my reference photo upside-down, and refined the shapes of the patches of snow, using white and mauve paint. Working with the images upside-down helped, as it always does. Then I turned the painting right-side-up, made a few corrections to some lines, and started to soften some of the the colors to suggest distance. To be continued. . . .
