I worked on this painting on October 12, making minor adjustments, and finally finished it on October 15th. I finished adjusting the shape of the golden slope and was finally happy with the composition. Then I added touches of gold and pink paint to suggest sunlight hitting the top of each slope. As a child, I thought of Manitou Springs as a magical place, full of exotic sights and sounds: Japanese toys, Native American dances, little paper cups of bubbling spring water. And the beautiful backdrop of the mountains.
