On October 8th, I was getting ready to start another painting by creating this photo reference. I began with a photo taken in Manitou Springs, and cropped the mountains from the background. I used some posterizing on the sky, and some color overlays to the hillside. I thought this was going to be a relatively easy scene to paint. But I was wrong.
